November Favorites

I cannot believe that the last time I posted was way back in August! Going back to Knox really threw off my schedule and Inked in Pearls got pushed to the pack of the pile of things to work on. Since I am currently on break and I thought I would go ahead and try and get back into the swing of things!

I am going to be listing some of my favorite things from November!

FAVORITE BOOK: ANYTHING BY GILLIAN FLYNN

I have been reading Gillian Flynn like a mad woman over that last three weeks. So far I have read Gone Girl and Dark Places. I am currently in the middle of Sharp Objects and I am totally hooked. I have no clue what I will do with my life once I am done with the last book. I haven't seen the movie adaptation of Gone Girl yet and I am anxious to! Let me know if you have any book recommendations for me once I finish Sharp Objects.

FAVORTIE MUSIC: TAYLOR SWIFT 1989

It is no secret how much I love Taylor Swift. Ever since her debut album I have been genuinely obsessed and in love. 1989 is one of the best albums I have ever heard and I cannot get enough of it. I am not going to say any more because I am doing an entire post about the album later this week!

FAVORTIE NAIL POLISH: JULEP DEVON

I have been receiving Julep boxes for a little over a year now. I honestly thought I would be tried of them at this point and it is the exact opposite! Every month I love customizing my box and seeing what is headed my way. This month I found Devon in my box which is a gorgeous grey color with small flecks of sparkle. I wore this off and on all month and it goes with everything! If you are interested in joining Julep click here.

FAVORITE LIPSTICK: TARTE WATERMELON

Over the last year tarte has become one of my favorite makeup lines. With their natural formulas, gorgeous packaging, and killer products there is a lot to love. Although I really enjoy a dark lip for fall and winter I found myself coming back to watermelon over the past several weeks. It is also one of the softest lipstick formulas I have used recently which is a huge plus! If you are interested in purchasing this you can click here.

I hope everyone had an amazing November!

July Favorites

It is hard to believe that we are already a week into August! I love August for many reasons, aside from it being my birthday month, I also love back to school shopping. Since we are well into August I decided it was time to post some of my favorite things from July.

First up is my ultimate favorite from July, it is the Urban Decay Naked 3 palate. I had been eyeing this for months since it first was released. My grandmother surprised me with it as an early birthday present while she was in town visiting from California. Below you can see the packaging and the product itself.

(Sorry about my top knot in the mirror!)

You can purchase this from either Urban Decay, Sephora, or Ulta and it cost $54.00. While it is a bit pricey, the colors are super pigmented.  There is a ton of product, and the brush is stellar. While the price might be a bit of an initial shock it is 100% worth the cost in the long run.

My next beauty favorite is much more reasonably priced. This is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer and it is priced at $4.47 at Walmart. I have been searching for this concealer for months and my Mom finally found it while she was out shopping and picked it up for me. It gives great coverage, especially if you are using for under-eye circles like I am.

My next favorite is another high-end beauty product. This is the benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation. This was a total impulse buy at Ulta towards the end of the month. I cannot put into words how much I love this foundation, it is incredibly smooth on my skin. Like I said, I purchased this at Ulta and it was $36.00.

My final favorite product from July is Julep's Bare Body Milk. It is a silky lotion that came in my July Julep Maven box. Julep also offers a Bare Body Polish which is a matching body scrub that you are meant to use prior to the lotion. If you are a monthly subscriber to the Julep Maven box the price is $19.20 and if you are not a Maven it will cost $24.00.

Favorite Song: X (Deluxe Edition) Ed Sheeran- Shirtsleeves
Favorite Snack: Snapea Crisps-Wasabi Ranch
Favorite Movie: The Purge

Current Pinterest Favorites

I am a huge fan of social media. I feel like it is an amazing way to connect with both friends and family. I have had my Twitter account since 2009, while I didn't post regularly until about a year ago, I have always loved following other people. Instagram is similar to Twitter for me, I enjoy following other people much more than I enjoy posting my own photos. With that being said I have tried to get better about it.  Now, the social media site that I love more than anything probably isn't a huge surprise. I love Pinterest more than I love just about anything. I spend a ridiculous amount of time on Pinterest and I am constantly finding new favorite pins. I thought I'd share some of my current favorites with you.

My first favorite is this adorable floral dress. As much as I love the weather in fall I love the bright colors associated with spring and summer. I think that this dress would be perfect for an end of summer date night or girls night out.

My next favorite pin is one that looks forward to fall. I love chilly weather and the clothing that goes along with it! This outfit features a fringe cardigan, black leggings, and a gorgeous gold watch. There is no reason why you would have to buy anything to recreate this look. This look could easily be replicated with any cardigan, an oversized scarf, a t-shirt, and either dark wash jeans or black leggings.

I am always pinning new recipes on Pinterest. While I always intend on making the food that I pin, I never seem to find the time. This recipe looked so good that I think I might just have to try it! It is from skinnytaste.com and you can find the recipe here.  This grilled pesto chicken and tomato kebab would be a great alternative for a cook out if you didn't want to have traditional BBQ food.

Finally, my final favorite for this post, is a pair of Kendra Scott 'Ellie' Oval Stud Earrings. I have been coveting these earrings for a couple months and they are high up on my wish list. These earrings are a little pricey, they are $65.00 at Nordstrom and they come in blue, gold, silver, and a multi color. If you are interested in purchasing these earrings you can do so here. I think these earrings are the perfect splurge gift, especially as we are headed into fall. This is a great transition piece and in all honesty will really work year round.

I have recently created a Bloglovin account, I would love for you to follow me so I can follow you as well! As always I would love for you to say hello on any of my social media sites!

Why I Love: Julep

So any one who knows me knows that I love nail polish. Last October I found a monthly beauty box service called Julep Maven. Now, before I get too in depth into the blog, I wanted to mention that I am in no way sponsored by Julep.  I literally just love the company so much that I wanted to write about them! Julep is a beauty box that specializes in nail care and nail polish. When you sign up you take a quiz to see what your Maven style is, then get your first box free! Depending on your style profile, which you can always alter, you will get two to three full sized products in your box every month.

(This is the Sweep Eyeshadow Palette from Julep, I love this product.)

My maven style is "Classic with a Twist" which is described as: "an iconic beauty with a timeless aesthetic." My box includes two limited edition nail polishes and one full sized beauty item. The full sized beauty item can be anything from lip gloss to skin care to lotion and it never fails to be my favorite part of the box. Depending on your maven style you get different types of boxes, for instance, the modern beauty box has two full sized beauty products and no nail polishes. If you are a nail polish lover like me, there is even a box with three nail polishes and no beauty products.

(This is the Julep nail polish Vicki. I recently got this in a box and I love it!)

What makes Julep so special is the connection that you feel to the process and the company itself. The story of how the company came about is wonderful, it was made by women for women! If you are interested into the background of how the company started you can click here. Julep is super involved on their social media accounts and they even let their Julep Maven's choose what will be featured in a monthly sale called the "Secret Store." You are also connected to the process each month when, a week before the box is sent out, you are allowed to preview all boxes available and then can pick your favorite! You can also purchase discounted add-ons to include in your box as an extra little treat.

If you are interested in trying Julep you can get your first box free by clicking here. If you use a beauty box service like Julep let me know in the comments!

Tattoos and Pearls

Combat boots, Lilly Pulitzer, tattoos, and bows. None of those things seem to fit together in theory. However with some experimentation I have found that indeed they can. I have always been inclined towards the preppy side of things, from a young age my mother dressed me in adorable clothing that definitely influenced my adult wardrobe. Over the years I had been drawn to pieces of fashion that were a bit more edgy and I was completely inclined to try them. I had an internal struggle with this because even though I absolutely adored these pieces I felt like I was cheating on my preppy side. It took a long while but I am here to say that both styles can coexist peacefully.

You can find the backstory behind how the title of my blog came to be by looking in the about me section. It is basically the story of how I came to acquire my tattoos. I think that tattoos are incredibly meaningful and can truly be classic and beautiful on anyone regardless of their personal style.

The first tattoo I had done represents my commitment to theatre. When you look at it the font is backwards so it reads correctly in the mirror. I did this because when you are reading a play or musical for the first time you have to look at it multiple times and in different ways to truly understand what it is trying to say. It is also a tribute to one of my favorite plays entitled "Play" by Samuel Beckett

The second tattoo I got was one that I had planned for many years. I got the tattoo in memory of my
Grandpa who passed away in 2006. We were incredibly close when he was alive and I miss him everyday. My Grandpa was a massive Beatles fan and that inspired the tattoo.

This picture was taken about an hour after I had it done so it was a bit irritated still.

Thanks for reading! Let me know your opinions on tattoos!
